Compass Card Available at Albertsons
The Compass Card is your transit pass for bus, TROLLEY, COASTER, and SPRINTER trips
- simply Tap & Ride! These passes are now available on Compass Card: monthly passes, various day passes (30, 14, 4, 3, 2, and 1-Day), and the RegionPlus Day Pass. You can buy or reload your Compass Card at Albertsons stores throughout San Diego County. See a map of Albertsons locations.
The Compass Card is reusable and reloadable. It simplifies taking transit by creating
an easy, universal way to pay for passes and fares. You can register your card so
that if it is ever lost, stolen, or damaged, your card will be replaced and your
pass balance restored. You can even automate your monthly pass payments with your
credit or debit card so your pass does not expire.
There is a $2 fee for new Compass Cards. The fee will be added to the cost of your
transit pass. Your reusable Compass Card should last. Just keep it. Reload it.
Easy to Reload your Compass Card
Monthly passes are valid from the first to the last day of the month. Monthly passes purchased
between the 1st and 15th are valid for the current month. Passes purchased between the 20th and
the end of the month will be valid for the following month.
When you purchase a 30-Day Pass, or other day pass product, the pass is active immediately. When
you reload these passes on your Compass Card, the pass is activated when you tap your card on
a validator at a transit station or on the validator near the bus farebox. A 30-Day Pass can
be reloaded on any day of the month to receive 30 consecutive days of riding; a 14-Day Pass
provides 14 consecutive days of riding, etc.
Compass Cards purchased by mail are loaded with monthly passes. Once you receive your
Compass Card, it can be reloaded with monthly, 30-Day, or other passes.
Most purchases made online are for monthly passes. Conversion of monthly/30-Day Passes
can only be done through the Compass Card customer service center. Be advised, converting
a pass type (monthly pass to 30-Day Pass or 30-Day Pass to monthly pass) may result in
concurrently active passes if you loaded more than one pass to your card. For more
information on how to convert from a monthly pass to a 30-Day Pass, or vice versa, call 511
and say “Compass” to speak to a customer service representative.
You can load up to two identical passes on a Compass Card. To avoid concurrently active
passes (active at the same time), do not load different passes until your first pass has
